I am really intrigued by Lotte Reiniger's work since she has mastered the work of shadowed puppetry
and it amazes me how she makes them move and create short films using paper techniques, even the background is so detailed through cut outs and so the light passes through to create shadows.
Her work was really good for her time since it was between the 1900's to 1981.
This image here is of the film The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Which i find very interesting and i like to look at the way she made them move. Another favourite movie of mine would be the magic horse made in 1953 this i found was very well done and is well narrated. Magic Horse images.
Me and my group tried to recreate this at college by using a projector and cut out scenes to get that would create a shadowed effect on the image which we digitally took.
we found this very intriguing to try and recreate what she does and this way we realised how hard it really is to complete a short film in shadowed puppetry. She is one of my favourite animators even though it is very old and an old style. I think when i first found out about Lotte Reiniger this is when i thought that i wanted to take animation as a career.
